Maria Salomea Skłodowska-Curie (Polish: Maria Salomea Skłodowska-Curie; November 7, 1867 - July 4, 1934), commonly referred to as Madame Curie (French: Madame Curie), was a Polish-born French physicist and chemist who pioneered research on radioactivity. She was the first female Nobel Prize laureate and the first person to win Nobel Prizes in two different fields (Physics and Chemistry). Additionally, she was the first female professor at the University of Paris.
