Chiang Kai-shek (October 31, 1887 – April 5, 1975), courtesy name Jieshi, birth name Zhou Tai, educational name Zhiqing, was a political and military figure from Fenghua, Zhejiang, Republic of China. He served as principal of the Whampoa Military Academy, Commander-in-Chief of the National Revolutionary Army, Chairman of the National Government, Chairman of the Military Affairs Commission of the National Government, and President of the Republic of China among other positions.
